• Born in Portella Catalonia Spain (1204 - 1240) he is always portrayed with a monstrance in his hands because of the sanctity and purity which he kept his whole life. His mother died in childbirth hence his name nonnatus (not born) He traveled to North Africa where he ransomed 250 slaves by trading himself for them with their captors. Patron of expectant mothers, pregnant women, babies, obstetricians, midwives, falsely accused and priests defending the confidentiality of confession.
